Witherbee
Neighborhood Swarmed by Buyers
On Friday, August 13 and Saturday, August
14, Witherbee Neighborhood Association sponsored its
First Annual Neighborhood-wide Garage Sale. Thirty-five
locations spotted throughout our association area
sold everything from furniture to baby clothes. All
participants donated $3.00 to cover publicity in the
Lincoln Journal-Star and Thirfty Nickel as well as
the printing of sale location maps which were distributed
to all locations. The map was also located on the
Witherbee Neighborhood Association website (www.witherbeena.org).
During the week of the sales, over 600 hits were made
on the website! Following the sales, Bob Reeker, 3820
J Street and Garage Sale Organizer, made follow up
calls to participants to get feedback for future neighborhood
garage sales. In addition, each location was encouraged
to donate 10% of it's sales to the Witherbee Neighborhood
Association.
If you have input about future neighborhood
garage sales or have a fun story as a result of the
garage sale weekend, please contact Bob Reeker at
402.742.9102 or by email (breeker@lps.org). Thank
you to everyone who participated to make this first
neighborhood garage sale such a success! Special thanks
to Fred Freytag for the use of his sale sign posts
and to Doug Keyser; Tammy, Kelsi, and Samantha Svendsen
for delivering over 400 maps throughout the neighborhood.
This event was organized by Bob Reeker.
Thank You Bob for super job. Look for more stories
from the garage sale event soon.
